Notes on auroral activity at Eureka, Jan. 23, 1996, from Polar Camera 07:50 SA arcs visible at 557.7 nm toward E horizon (~50 deg z.a.) 07:58 SA arcs still there 08:02 arcs brighter, moving nearer zenith (Z) 08:12 single arc now, continuing to brighten 08:17 arc dims 08:30 arc brightens and appears first in N2+ emission (lower altitude) 08:39 arc brightens and moves nearer Z 08:43 arc in Z, now several quasiparallel arc fragments 08:52 arc now W of Z, fragmented as before 08:59 arc continues to drift W 09:11 arc has reintegrated and brightened 09:18 weakly visible in N2+ as well as [OI] 09:24 arc back in Z 09:38 arc in Z is stronger, finely rayed arc fragments in SW 09:43 Z arc quite bright in 557.7-nm, Z arc and rayed arcs visible in N2+ also, only Z arc apparent in 630.0-nm 09:51 Z arc and rayed arcs in SW have largely broken up 09:56 residue of Z arc brightest toward SW, perhaps drifting to NW 10:02 no arcs visible, increasing cloud apparent after this time
