Dear All: Before closing the meeting on Friday we reviewed the membership of the other seven teams beside the science team, and appointed team leaders. In some cases those appointed have yet to indicate their acceptance of the appointments, so the following information must be regarded as provisional in those cases (marked *). That said, here are the results of the exercise. Optics: D. Steele (leader), M. Huber, E. Ivanov, G. McDougall, M. White Mechanical: J Bugg (leader), A. Dolovich, J. Steele Electrical / GPS / Firmware: R. Bolton (leader *), J. Giesbrecht, G. McDougall, R. Srinivasan, M. Stocki Onboard Data Handling: R. Srinivasan (leader *), R. Bolton, J. Giesbrecht, J. Steele Ground-based Data Handling: A. Dolovich (leader), A. Smolyakov, C. Soteros, R. Srinivasan, J. Steele Risk / Reliability: R. Bolton (leader *), R. Srinivasan, M. Stocki, H. Wood Management Plan: J. Chan, D. Harris, S. Koustov, D. Sniezek (leader TBD) Those who have yet to indicate team preferences are H. Caplan and J. Offiong. The above teams are subject to revision in the event that certain teams need additional strength to complete their work. I would ask the team leaders to contact the members of their teams and arrange the commencement of the teams' work. Please contact me for any information you may require. As mentioned on Friday, we do not yet have a decision on a vehicle. The BB VI would offer us the advantages of a larger, Canadian vehicle, but availability is not known (to us). The smaller, American-made Super Arcas would be the second choice. As soon as I receive word from Bristol Aerospace on the BB VI I will pass it on via e-mail, together with what information I have then on size, mass, altitude and telemetry constraints. Sincere thanks to the science team members for their hard work to get us started! Although it may seem like we have more questions than we started with, I believe we're in very good shape. I will let you all know on Wednesday whether a plenary meeting is required on Friday. At the least, the PI and team leaders will have to meet, inasmuch as Friday will be October 4th, the date of our first review. I will keep you posted. Dave
