Notes on experience as Optics Team leader
=========================================

Do every calculation by hand first, and then code the hand calculation,
checking that the code result matches the hand calculation.

Network early and often; don't put it off or wait until you're "ready."

Get into the literature yourself, as much as you can; on the other hand,
remember to delegate as much as possible, but insist on accoutability
from the persons you delegate to.

Establish a regular meeting structure and work to that structure, rather
than having meetings ad hoc.

Plan meetings ahead of time, and follow your written agenda.
