Real-time Data
Many of our instruments provide real-time data streams. We have several tools for viewing this data, such as the Data Portal or the AuroraX Real-time Viewer. To access the real-time data itself for other usage, you can utilize our API to retrieve it. You can also check out our interactive real-time globe visualization on the homepage to watch data flow in live.
The Data Portal provides a browser-based interface for viewing real-time data from our instrument arrays.
The AuroraX Real-Time Viewer displays live imagery from our scientific auroral cameras in a mobile-friendly 3D-globe visualization.
API
Our real-time data is available programmatically using our API via basic HTTP requests. Each stream has a unique ID, and retrieving the latest data is as simple as a GET request to https://api.phys.ucalgary.ca/api/v1/rt/{id}/latest. No authentication is required. For continuous streaming, a WebSocket endpoint is also available. Further details can be found in the interactive API documentation .
The table below lists all available real-time data streams. Click View to preview the latest frame, or use the API URL to access the data directly.
